Sometimes you hope that people can show a bit of empathy and understanding, especially those who work in a "caring" profession.
I booked my boyfriend's cat into A Complete Cattery to stay for eight days over the Easter period.
For personal reasons, I had to cancel the booking the next day - five says before the cat was due to be dropped off at the cattery.
I asked if it was possible for my $92 deposit to be refunded.
A Complete Cattery refused to refund it on the grounds that I was told it was non-refundable when I made the booking. The cattery has this policy during the high-demand periods of Easter and Christmas.
I mentioned that I had cancelled the booking within 24 hours. I also asked whether they had to turn customers away because of my booking. The girl on the phone said "probably not", but still refused to refund the money.
As I see it, A Complete Cattery has effectively kept my $92 without delivering a service, or being inconvenienced by my cancellation. Is this akin to stealing? I think so.

You may think you've made an easy buck, but I will simply take my cat to another vet and cattery in the future, and tell my friends and family to do the same.
