The Gendarmenmarkt is a square in Berlin, with three distinctive buildings on site: the French Cathedral, the German Cathedral, and the Konzerthaus (under construction as of July 2014). During the holiday season, the square hosts one of Berlin's most popular Christmas markets, which we unfortunately weren't able to see as we visited earlier this month. Overall, it's a nice area to visit, walk around, shop, eat, and people watch.

The food here was really, really amazing. The only down side was that it took so long for it to arrive. About once every 45 minutes to an hour we were brought a small plate - the next course in the meal, which took about 5 minutes to eat, even slowly. It was really a shame. Nice view of the city, but after we had already been there for four hours (for a set menu, mind you), we asked for the bill and skipped dessert.
