Seems like every restaurant in Calgary is jumping on the tapas bandwagon and why wouldn't they? Plates the size of small appetizers costing the same as a typical lunch entree ranging anywhere from $12 to $25. The price doesn't sound too bad until you realize that you have to order at least 3 to 4 plates per person to make it a full meal. When travelling through Spain I loved going to restaurants and ordering tapas for a quick bite because it was cheap and delicious. Each plate ranged from $2 to $5 Euros. Even with conversion it was still a heck of a lot cheaper than here in Calgary. Not to mention the tapas here don't even taste that great.

Visited Taste on a Friday for after movie dinner and drinks. Awesome venue, (should note though that the ventilation isn't the best from the kitchen and you will end up smelling like food), great rotating wine list, and the menu is always changing.
Not the best place if you're starving, but in a place to chat and have a few bites and bottles of wine...perfect. They have a rotating charcuterie menu that is phenomenal with all the accompaniments.

We visited Taste on a whim, and decided to give it a try based on the number of good reviews it has received recently and good feedback from our friends.
They sell themselves as a high end tapas bar, with share plates and options for large groups which is nice, and they largely use local and environmentally consciously sourced ingredients, however their prices are a little ridiculous.
First up, upon first glance this place is really nice - great atmosphere and vibe, it has a nice rustic feel to it. Their wine and beer selection is different and their cocktails are to die for!
The food is delicious but the quantities are really, really small. I was finding it hard to justify paying the amount we did for the small plates we received.
If you are expecting to come here and leave with a full stomach for under $70 per person, you will be disappointed. Make sure you eat a large meal at home first before coming here to enjoy delicious food for only the Taste!

We went to Taste for the first time after a friend's recommendation yesterday evening. The service, the food and the atmosphere was AMAZING! I had the "Taste Tuesday" deal which incorporated a caesar salad as a starter, steak wellington as the main course and chocolate mousse for dessert for $35. My husband ordered the linguini carbonara and we shared our meals. Everything was DIVINE!! Taste provided us with mini cupcakes as mints when they brought our bill....super yummy and a very kind gesture. Writing this review and describing our meal is making my mouth water. I highly recommend everyone trying out Taste as you will not be disappointed!
